Natureweavers is an award-winning earth-based play and learning community for children and families. Based on the Sunshine Coast, it is Queensland’s longest running ‘forest school’ program, and is led by Carly Garner, a pioneer in Australian nature pedagogy and environmental education.
We have programs for children, adults and families. Please click on the links below for more detailed information.
Earth Kids is Natureweavers’ weekly ‘earth school’ program for children. Earth Kids are aged between 3-5 years (Fledglings) or 6-16 years (Elders). They spend their whole day outside, exploring our specially selected wildspace in Black Mountain – a perfect balance of diverse forest, peaceful waterholes, abundant wildlife and permaculture food garden. More information here
Bushcraft Intensives see children aged 7+ gather seasonally to explore a new bushcraft skill. Bushcraft intensives are 4 week homeschool programs (1 session/week) with a different skill each season – earth arts in summer, whittling in autumn, primitive fire in winter, and wildcrafting in spring. Current program is Earth Arts for Summer – BOOKINGS HERE
Holiday Programs are opportunities for children aged 3-16 years to participate in the Natureweavers magic! Programs run during each school holidays. The next Holiday Program is Autumn from Monday 3 April – Thursday 6 April, then Tuesday 11 April – Friday 14 April. Booking open soon.
Earth Rites is Natureweavers’ seasonal Rite of Passage program for young women aged 11-15 years. Earth Rites honours the changing relationship between girls and the earth, with themselves and with their communities as they move towards adulthood. It aims to re-establish and strengthen adolescent girls’ connection to earth and to one another, and from this ‘healthy soil’, enable our girls to grow into adulthood as strong, confident, supported young women, both individually and as a community. Our next gathering is 2023 – details tbc.
